Elijah Zane's Teye Guitar

Elijah Zane plays through a beautiful 2014 Teye guitar that is part of the Super-E Series called the La Perla.  This 2014 Austin-made humbucker guitar has Mother of Pearl and Abalone inlays on the top of the Mahogany body with Lollar Imperial Humbuckers.

“I’ve always admired these guitars just because of the artistic and beautiful design.  I’ve owned three Les Pauls in my life and sold them.  I wanted a unique sound.  When I played the Teye, I found what I was looking for.”

Elijah Zane plays through a beautiful 2014 La Mora Teye guitar that is part of the Super-E Series.  This 2014 Austin-made humbucker guitar has beautiful artwork engraved on the aluminum plate with Ebony on the top of the frame of the body.

“What I like most about this guitar is the tone and of course the proprietary electronics.  The attitude of the tone is an aggressive, bold bite. I love it.”

Elijah Zane's Stratocaster

Elijah Zane’s primary Fender Stratocaster is a 1994 40th Anniversary Sunburst Strat that he bought from Spacetone Music in 2016.  Everything is stock on this electric guitar.

“I played through three  40th Anniversaries Stratocasters.  All at Spacetone and this one sounded the best.  When I moved to Austin, TX I took it to Austin Vintage Guitars to get it set up.  They did an amazing job on it.  It plays like butter and I can still get mean on it.”

Elijah Zane’s secondary Stratocaster, which sometimes you will see him play more than the Sunburst, is an All American Black Stratocaster.  This was purchased at Spacetone Music in 2017.

“What I like the most about this Strat is the way it sounds.  It is a bit brighter and more aggressive than the Sunburst and I think it is because of the Ebony fretboard. That is why I bought it.  Also because of the subtle glitter in the black paint job.   When I heard that Ruben V returned it, I had to scoop it up.”

Elijah Zane's G&L ASAT Telecaster

Elijah Zane’s number number one guitar would have to be his G&L ASAT Telecaster with Hot Rail pickups.  Elijah purchased this guitar in 2009 used at Guitar Center.  Funny story is that Ruben V used to own this guitar too.

“My friend Cliff Wright and I were at Guitar Center just trying out guitars.  I traded in a strat that I bought at Spacetone for it.  The frets were huge and it played so well.  I took it to Eisenhauer Flea Market where Guns and Hoses spray painted my last name on it.  It is such a rad guitar.  It sounds amazing.”

Elijah Zane plays acoustic from time to time.  Either solo or with Jennifer Sullivan in Austin, Texas.  When he does it is through his Custom X Series acoustic Martin at Spacetone Music in 2010.

“I love this acoustic guitar so much.  I write with it and I play it live.  It didn’t have that huge acoustic body and it played so well.  Those are the two things I found attractive when I first played it.  I can lead on it if I need to or get that Texas Folk Townes Van Zandt sound that I like.”

Elijah Zane plays a variety of hand-made boutique analog guitar pedals.  In order they are:  A Boss tuner, Xotic Wha Wha, a 1996 original Full-Drive 2 with the Alien Head inside, a XTR Klon, a 1983 Tube Screamer, an Ultimate Octave by Fulltone and a Deja-Vibe by Fulltone in California all out through an A/B Blade+ Switch out to the Super Reverb and the Vibrolux.

“My favorite pedal is the 1996 Full-Drive 2.  There is something special about it that I can’t find in any of the reissues.  Second would be the Tube Screamer.”

Elijah Zane’s go-to amplifier is a Fender Vibrolux Custom reissue.  This amplifier was purchased at San Antonio’s premier boutique guitar store, Spacetone Music in 2015.

“What is unique about this amplifier is that I replaced one of the speakers with an Eminence Rajun Cajun.  I get dark bold tones out of the amp combined with the original Italian-made Jenson speaker that it came with.  It is also easy to load and unload to shows. I like that a lot.”

Elijah Zane’s second amplifier is an original 1964 Fender Super Reverb.  Elijah purchased this amp from Spacetone Music in December of 2017.  This Super has new ceramic Weber speakers with new caps in the head that was professionally worked on by the techs at Austin Vintage Guitars.

“I demo’d five Super Reverbs, all original, in Austin, San Antonio, and one by another guitarist in San Antonio.  The one at Spacetone Music had the best tone and believe it or not, it was the most affordable.”
